Summer 2005
Joan's Cotton Crop
.
If you live where you don't have the opportunity to see cotton growing, this page will give you a chance to watch it grow. I planted the pima cotton seeds, which I got from a cotton farmer in Casa Grande, just after Easter. I live at an altitude of approximately 4000 feet in growing zone 8.

This shows the "square," which is the development stage leading to the flower,
which leads to the boll.
.

This is a green cotton plant, rather than the pima (the cotton itself will be green).
The "square" now encompasses the flower.
(The spiny stalk behind the flower is not a part of the cotton plant.)

Here's the pima blossom.

September 14 - This is the green cotton showing both boll and the opening.

Cotton in full bloom.

Time for picking!
